Database / Data Infrastructure Engineer (Ground-work for data storage startup)

We're looking for a Database / Data Infrastructure Engineer (Short-Term Contract, possible Long-Term).

We're building a data storage startup, and this is the ground-work for a proof-of-concept for it:

• Engagement: 1- to 3-Month Project (with potential for full-time extension)

 Project Overview:

• We are building a new, large-scale global company database. The system must be designed to handle at least 300 million records (billions of data points total), including a full version history for every piece of information. The core requirements are high-speed search, instant retrieval of current data, and storage for a massive volume of related documents.
• Your task is to design the complete, open-source architecture for this system and implement a proof-of-concept. You will select the optimal technologies and build the foundation for the entire platform on dedicated Linux servers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze the project requirements and propose a robust, scalable system architecture.
• Select the best open-source technologies for transactional data, search, and file storage.
• Perform the initial hands-on deployment and configuration of the core component
• Design a data model capable of efficiently storing and querying a complete history of all changes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in architecture and building large-scale data systems (100M+ records).
• Deep expertise across a range of open-source data technologies (eg, distributed databases, search engines, object storage). 
• Strong knowledge of Linux and deploying services on dedicated/bare-metal servers.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory for all team communication.

Terms:

• This is an initial 1- to 3-month project-based contract.
•  There is a strong possibility of a full-time, long-term position upon successful completion of the initial project.
